Choosing the Right Maui Jim Glasses

Choosing the Right Maui Jim Glasses

Sun rays contain UV and infrared rays. However, these two natural elements tend to be irritating to the eyes and cause vision problems. The good news is that you can protect your eyes with sunglasses. However, not all sunglasses and glasses are created equal. Some brands are more specialized in design, while other brands such as Maui Jim put a lot of emphasis on glass technology.

Maui Jim glasses are among the best glasses in the world, but that doesn't make the selection any easier. Each glass has certain properties that are tailored to specific activities. Here we offer you an overview of the entire glass technology and for whom it is suitable.

Maui Jim lenses offer several undeniable advantages for the wearer thanks to polarizedplus2 technology. The brand's products are equipped with polarized lenses that filter approximately 99.9% of the dazzling rays. Sunglasses are therefore invaluable allies for protecting yourself against visual fatigue. At the same time, they convey comfort and a deeper perception of contrasts to the wearer.

The components of the glasses differ from model to model. Some have ST mineral lenses, others MB, MP, ME and LT. Regardless of the selection, Maui Jim sunglasses are a symbol of sustainability. The collection offers five types of glasses: the ultra-thin glasses Mauibrillant, Mauipure and finally MauiEvolution.

- ST SuperThin

The ST SuperThin series consists of ultra-thin mineral glasses and offers lightness, scratch resistance and high optical performance.

- Mauibrillant

One of the most advanced glasses in the Maui Jim collection. Mauibrillant offers extreme visual acuity, which is very popular with professional athletes. The contrast of the colors is also created true to the original and every detail is perceived. Thanks to the scratch and impact treatment and the light weight, these Maui glasses are the ideal partner for sports and everyday life.

- MauiPure

Models with these glasses are some of Maui Jim's most popular products. You can benefit from an optical view similar to that of SuperThin (ST) mineral lenses. Clarity, robustness and lightness play a major role in this series.

- Maui Evolution

Maui Evolution is characterized by its high quality, its low weight and its impact resistance. The glasses are made of high quality polycarbonate, which promise robustness and durability.

- MauiPure LT

Belongs to the lightest and thinnest glasses on the market. The lenses are approx. 27% thinner and lighter than comparable models. During use, an optical quality is observed that is almost as sharp as that of mineral glass, but the collection also offers exceptional impact resistance.

The different treatments

Just like the high quality glasses, Maui Jim only offers high quality treatments that make a real difference. Find out which treatment is best for you.

- Polarization treatment

The Polarizedplus2 technology blocks glare from the inside and outside of the lenses and offers double protection against annoying glare. Especially on water, snow and sand, where glare is tripled, this treatment is valuable to protect your eyes from damage.

- Anti-reflective treatment

Blinding light affects visual comfort. Rest assured, Maui Jim technology is patented to help protect your eyes from potential eye strain. It blocks both reflected light and light that obstructs your view.

- Anti-scratch treatment

Each glass is equipped with a special anti-scratch treatment for high resistance to scratches and bumps. The patented CLEARSHELL® treatment also offers an anti-reflective coating on both glass sides as well as an additional lotus and anti-static treatment.

- Hydro-oleophobic treatment

All glasses are hydro-oleophobic. This means that water or snow simply rolls off on contact without leaving any marks. So you can continue your activity even in difficult weather situations without rain or snow impairing visibility. Even grease such as fingerprints can be easily wiped off.

Maui Jim glass colors

Regarding colors, we recommend considering the explanations below. You can choose between neutral gray, HCL bronze, Maui Rose, and Maui HT.

- Neutral gray

Neutral gray lenses offer comprehensive protection against extreme and direct sunlight. Be sure that annoying glare is almost completely absorbed on reflective surfaces like water, snow or sand. The glasses are characterized by lively colors, precision and real contrasts. Gray is perfect for presbyopes, fishermen, or sailors.

- HCL bronze

HCL Bronze is available in its brown color and is suitable for all types of wearers. The brown glasses are very popular with athletes because of their versatility, but are also indispensable for urban use. With these glasses you are not only trendy, but also effectively protect your eyes from UV rays.

- MAUI Rose

The Maui Rose glasses were specially made for outdoor activities. The reason for this claim is that the lenses offer an extremely high color contrast, which can be disturbing in everyday life. Very popular for mountaineering, beach volleyball, and other dynamic activities.

- Maui HT

The Maui HT glasses are colored green. The main advantage is the high light transmission and the UV filter category 2. The models can be worn all year round, as their style corresponds to the fashionable zeitgeist and at the same time they filter approx. 60% of the sun's rays. Even on cloudy days, these glasses are perfectekte Partner.

Mirror coatings

For those who prefer something a bit more conspicuous, Maui Jim has something very special. The collection offers different glass reflections such as Bi-Gradient Mirror, Flash Blue and Maui Gradient with which you are guaranteed not to go unnoticed.

- The bi-gradient mirror option

Even if these glasses look a bit strange or used to it at first, they offer clear advantages. The mirror coating is not, as usual, on the entire lens, but is attached to the lower and upper part of the glasses. Thanks to this technology, you will feel less tired when exposed to vertical exposure. The influence of bright light on the eye is reduced and the eyes can relax.

- Lightning blue mirror

The blue flash mirror coating is placed on the outside of the neutral gray lenses. The amount of light that reaches the eyes is minimized many times over and reflections are almost completely eliminated. Very popular when surfing, because the sunglasses not only protect but also look ultra-cool.

- Maui Gradient

Maui Gradient is an alternative to the bi-gradient mirror model. However, they differ based on the position of the mirror. In this prototype, the concentration is less bright towards the bottom. The light transmission is homogeneous on certain surfaces.

What Are the Manufacturing Secrets of Maui Jim Eyewear?

All Maui Jim technologies are patented and there is no information available about the individual manufacturing processes today. What we do know, however, is that the glasses are made by Berbereni. Berberni is number 1 when it comes to glasses. Etnia Barcelona also using Berbereni lenses.
